Mann Potatoes
Mann Potatoes (Mann Group) is a 6th generation farming business . The family has farms at Iken, Alderton and Bawdsey on the beautiful Sandlings Peninsula. Peter Mann is the farm manger for the Potato, Onion and Carrot crops and farms over 4,500 acres.
Hill Farm at Iken has over 200 acres in HLS, focussed mainly on the recreation of water meadows to encourage wild bird activity year round. Within the group there is 2,900 acres of land in HLS. The Mann family also has Pedigree Lincoln Red & Beef Shorthorn Cattle, with all beef sold locally. Currently there are 89 breeding cows with a target to reach 160. A Martello tower stands proud on the farmland at Bawdsey, which is classified as an Ancient Monument by English Heritage. The fort was built in 1809 as part of the Napoleonic defences; there are only 12 in Suffolk and 6 in Essex. |
